'Beliefs, Bias and Behaviour'
Saturday 26th September 2026, 10am-4pm, £65
A practical, reflective day for exploring how beliefs influence the way we think, respond and relate
Most of us have experienced conversations that shift. What begins as a straightforward exchange can become tense, reactive or difficult to navigate.
At times like these, it’s not just the topic that matters, but how we are making sense of what’s happening, what we assume, and how we respond in the moment.
This workshop offers a space to step back and explore the beliefs and assumptions that shape those responses, and how they show up in our behaviour, communication and choices.
What to expect
This is a small-group, practical day combining reflection, structured dialogue and experiential exercises.
Rather than focusing on theory alone, the emphasis is on noticing what happens in real time, in yourself and in interaction with others.
Across the day, you’ll have the opportunity to:
-
Notice your responses as conversations become more challenging
-
Explore the beliefs and assumptions influencing those responses
-
Practise staying engaged in dialogue without needing to agree
-
Work with questions that open up thinking rather than close it down
-
Recognise moments where you have more choice in how you respond
There is no expectation to share personal material. The focus is not on fixing or replacing beliefs, but on understanding them more clearly and relating to them differently.
Who This Day Is For
This day is for people who are interested in understanding how they think, respond and relate to others, particularly in situations involving difference, pressure or uncertainty.
Participants come from a range of backgrounds and bring different areas of focus. You might be drawn to this if you are:
-
Working in an organisation and interested in how beliefs influence culture, communication and wellbeing
-
A manager or leader wanting to reflect on how your responses shape relationships and decision-making
-
A coach, practitioner or facilitator who values reflective dialogue
-
Exploring personal patterns around confidence, responsibility, expectations or change
-
Someone who enjoys thoughtful inquiry and wants to engage with difference more constructively
The approach:
The day is held in a way that supports thoughtful exploration without pressure or prescription. The emphasis is on practical insight, shared inquiry and making sense of real experience.
Our focus will be:
Practical – insight that connects directly to everyday situations and conversations
Relational – attention to how beliefs show up between people, not just within individuals
Reflective – creating space to pause, notice and make sense of experience
Grounded – rooted in lived experience rather than abstract theory
Embodied – recognising that beliefs are felt as well as thought
The content
Across the day, we explore how beliefs influence perception, emotion and behaviour, particularly in situations where there is challenge, disagreement or uncertainty.
We'll explore:
-
What beliefs are and how they form
-
Surface and structural beliefs
-
The relationship between perception, emotion and behaviour
-
What happens under pressure
-
Staying in conversation without escalation
-
Ways of working with beliefs that feel limiting or fixed
The day includes short inputs alongside reflection, dialogue and practical exercises, with a focus on how insight can translate into everyday interactions.
